Legal Services Regulation Bill 26th November 2011
A seminar on the Legal Services Regulation Bill, 2011 hosted by the IWLA on 26th November 2011 was held in the Distillery Building.
The umbrella focus was on the impact of the Bill, on those affected, including an assessment of its impact on society in general and on the users of the legal serevices.
Each of the four speakers (Ken Murphy, Director General of the Law Society of Ireland, Mary Rose Gearty, SC, ('The Bill and the Bar' ) Noeline Blackwell, Director General of FLAC and Professor emeritus David Gwynn Morgan ('Regulation Bill: brave new dawn or missed opportunity?') developed a relevant theme, reflected in some instances in the specific title of the individual contributions.
Dr Carol Coulter, Legal Editor of The Irish Times chaired the event, and contributed in no small way to the lively discussion which ensued.
